KF flanges About
KF flanges, also known as NW or Quick Flanges (QF), are quick-release vacuum fittings used in high-vacuum systems. They consist of two identical flanged tube ends, a metal centering ring with an elastomeric O-ring, and a fast-acting aluminum clamp tightened with a wingnuDesign and Components
- Flange Body: Made from 304 or 316L stainless steel, or aluminum, featuring a 15-degree outer angle (chamfer) designed to match the clamp jaws.
- Centering Ring: A metal ring (often aluminum or stainless steel) that holds the rubber O-ring in place and aligns the two pipe ends.
- O-Ring: An elastomeric seal made of Viton, NBR (Buna-N), or silicone that gets compressed between the mating flange faces.
- Quick-Release Clamp: A hinged circular clamp operated by a hand-tightened wingnut that applies uniform pressure without requiring tools
Specifications and Performance
- Standard Sizes: Designated by nominal inner diameter (NW/DN sizes like KF10, KF16, KF25, KF40, and KF50).
